Emmet O’Doherty, Kenny Ward, Joanne Ryan, Aine O’Doherty and Louise Goodwin

On 21st June, 1995, Emmet O’Doherty, Kenny Ward, Joanne Ryan, Aine O’Doherty and Louise Goodwin entered the ocean at Bundoran Beach, Donegal to rescue a man who was in difficulties in the water.

Emmet O’Doherty and Kenny Ward were each awarded a Bronze Medal and Certificate of Bravery, while Joanne Ryan, Aine O’Doherty and Louise Goodwin were each awarded a Certificate of Bravery.

 

Corporal P. J. McCormack

On 22nd February, 1996, Cpl. P.J. McCormack entered the River Shannon near Church Street, Fermoy, Co. Cork and rescued a man who was in difficulties in the water.

Cpl. P. J.  McCormack was awarded a Silver Medal and Certificate of Bravery.

 

Sean O’Moore

On 7th January, 1996, Sean O’Moore entered the sea at Bray Harbour, Bray, Co. Wicklow to rescue a man who was in difficulties in the water.

Sean O’Moore was awarded a Silver Medal and Certificate of Bravery.

 

Daniel Grimes

On 12th December, 1995, Daniel Grimes entered a burning flat at 24 Montainview Court, Summerhill, Dublin 1 to rescue an elderly lady.

Daniel Grimes was awarded a Bronze Medal and Certificate of Bravery.

 

Peter O’Dwyer and Corporal Aidan O’Halloran

On 28-29th September, 1994, Peter O’Dwyer and Cpl. Aidan O’Halloran entered the sea in an ultimately unsuccessful attempt to rescue a sailor who had jumped off a naval vessel between Cobh and Haulbowline, Co. Cork.

Peter O’Dwyer and Cpl. Aidan O’Halloran were each awarded a Bronze Medal and Certificate of Bravery.

 

Darren Shovlin

On 25th August, 1994, Darren Shovlin entered the ocean at Killbegs Harbour, Co. Donegal to rescue a man who had fallen into the water.

Darren Shovlin was awarded a Bronze Medal and a Certificate of Bravery.

Thomas Davis

On 2nd August, 1995, Thomas Davis entered the sea at Grattan Road Beach, Galway to rescue a woman who was in difficulties in the water.

Thomas Davis was awarded a Certificate of Bravery.

 

Garda M. P. McNamara

On 12th March, 1995, Garda. M.P. McNamara rescued a man who was in difficulties in the River Fergus at Ennis, Co. Clare.

Garda MP McNamara was awarded a Certificate of Bravery.

 

Fireman Jim Wallace

On 31st December, 1994, Fireman Jim Wallace entered the River Shannon at Black Bridge, Limerick to rescue a father and son who were in difficulties in the water.

Fireman Jim Wallace was awarded a Certificate of Bravery.

 

Fireman Stephen Kenefick

On 25th November, 1995, Fireman Stephen Kenefick entered a burning house in Waterford in an attempt to rescue a woman who unfortunately subsequently died.

Fireman Stephen Kenefick was awarded a Certificate of Bravery.

 

John Mullins

On 6th January, 1996, Garda John Mullins assisted in the rescue of a man who was in difficulties in the River Clody, Co. Wexford.

Garda John Mullins was awarded a Certificate of Bravery.

 

Frank Burke

On 9th November, 1995, Frank Burke entered the River Slaney near Ferrycraig Road, Wexford to rescue a man who was in difficulties in the water.

Frank Burke was awarded a Silver Medal and Certificate of Bravery.

 

Brendan Crawford

On 10th August, 1995, Brendan Crawford (who was at that time aged 12) entered the River Foyle to rescue his friend (aged 11) who was in difficulties in the water.

Mr. Crawford was awarded a Bronze Medal and Certificate of Bravery.

 

 

Garda Patrick Condon, Garda Kevin Sweeney and Mr. Philip Meaney

On 29/30th July, 1995, Garda Patrick Condon, Garda Kevin Sweeney and Mr. Philip Meaney entered the River Lee at South Gate Bridge, Cork City in an attempt to rescue a man who had fallen into the water.

Garda Patrick Condon, Garda Kevin Sweeney and Mr. Philip Meaney were each awarded a Certificate of Bravery.

 

Jimmy Moloney

On 16th April, 1996, Jimmy Moloney entered the sea at the Cunnigar, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford to rescue a man who was in difficulties in the water.

Jimmy Moloney was awarded a Silver Medal and Certificate of Bravery.

 

Garda Gerard Geary and Tara Sheehan

On 12th June, 1996, Tara Sheehan and Garda Gerard Geary entered the River Lee near the Mercy Hospital, Cork to rescue a man who was in difficulties in the water.

Tara Sheehan and Garda Gerard Geary were each awarded a Bronze Medal and Certificate of Bravery.

 

Garda John O’Sullivan

On 19th January, 1997, Garda John O’Sullivan helped a 17year old youth from a burning house in Garryowen, Limerick.

Garda John O’Sullivan was awarded a Certificate of Bravery.

 

Garda Noel Curry and Sergeant David Walsh

On 17th October, 1995, Garda Noel Curry and Sergeant David Walsh entered the River Suir near the Custom House Quay, Waterford to rescue a man who was in difficulties.

Garda Noel Curry and Sergeant David Walsh were each awarded a Certificate of Bravery.

 

Noel Early, Joe Gallagher, Daniel Greene and Philip Gallagher

On 20th August, 1996, Noel Early, Joe Gallagher, Daniel Greene and Philip Gallagher assisted in the rescue of a man who was in difficulties in the sea off Poolawaddy Pier, Arranmore Island, Co. Donegal.

Noel Early, Joe Gallagher, Daniel Greene and Philip Gallagher were each awarded a Certificate of Bravery.

On 14th March, 1997, Frank Kelleher entered the River Lee at Penrose Quay, Cork to rescue a woman who was in difficulties in the water.

Frank Kelleher was awarded a Bronze Medal and Certificate of Bravery.

On 19th June, 1997, Fireman Joe O’Toole and Fireman Donal Mulcahy entered the River Lee at North Gate Bridge, Cork to rescue a woman who was in difficulties in the water.

On 18th January, 1997, Garda Gerry Cleary entered the River Shannon near Henry Street Garda Station in Limerick, to rescue a man who was in difficulties in the water.

Garda Gerry Cleary was awarded a Bronze Medal and Certificate.

 

Karl and Paul Halpin

On 10th January, 1997, Karl and Paul Halpin assisted in the rescue of a man who was in difficulties by the Poolbeg Bridge, Navan, Co. Meath.

Karl and Paul Halpin were each awarded a Certificate of Bravery.

 

Martin Allen and Sean O’Neill

On 16th May 1997, Martin Allen and Sean O’Neill entered the River Shannon at Sarsfield Bridge, Limerick to rescue a woman who was in difficulties in the water.
