Harry McAuley

On 26th February, 1980, Harry McAuley entered the Tolka River at Drumcondra, Co. Dublin to rescue a boy who was in difficulties in the water.

Harry McAuley was awarded a Bronze Medal and Certificate of Bravery.

 

Richard Buttimer

On 20th October, 1994, Richard Buttimer entered the sea off Kinsale, Co. Cork in an attempt to rescue a woman who had driven her car off the Pier Road. Unfortunately, the woman died.

Richard Buttimer was awarded a Silver Medal and Certificate of Bravery.

 

Garda Declan O’Brien and Garda Martin Harrington

On 13th January, 1995, Garda Declan O’Brien and Garda Martin Harrington stopped a man from setting himself on fire after dousing himself with petrol at Belmont Filling Station, Ranelagh, Dublin 6.

Garda O’Brien and Garda Harrington were each awarded a Silver Medal and Certificate of Bravery.

 

Student Garda Denis O’Sullivan

On 2nd November, 1994, Student Garda Denis O’Sullivan entered the River Corrib near Mill Street Garda Station, Galway to rescue a man who was in difficulties in the water.

Garda Denis O’Sullivan was awarded a Bronze Medal and Certificate of Bravery.

 

Garda Anthony Gallagher

On 12th March, 1995, Garda Anthony Gallagher came to the assistance of a man who had had his throat cut after being attacked with a knife at Drumfinn Road, Ballyfermot, Dublin.  Garda Gallagher was able to attend to the man until an ambulance arrived.

Garda Anthony Gallagher was awarded a Silver Medal and Certificate of Bravery.

 

David Fancy and Virginia Clay.

On 23rd May, 1995, Virginia Clay assisted David Fancy, who had entered the Royal Canal at "The Locke", Reilly’s Bridge, Cabra, Dublin 7 to rescue a boy who was in difficulties in the water.

David  Fancy was awarded a Bronze Medal and Certificate of Bravery and Virginia Clay was awarded a Certificate of Bravery.

 

Rosaleen O’Donnell

On 15th December, 1994, Rosaleen O’Donnell (who was 14 at the time) rescued her 3 year old brother from a burning house at Derryfad, Creeslough, Co. Donegal.

Rosaleen O’Donnell was awarded a Bronze Medal and Certificate of Bravery.

 

David Meade and Geraldine Hickey

On 30th August, 1994, David Meade and Geraldine Hickey entered the River Liffey at Chapelizod Bridge, Co. Dublin to rescue a man who was in difficulties in the water.

David Meade and Geraldine Hickey were each awarded a Bronze Medal and Certificate of Bravery.

 

Garda Peter Kelly

On 25th December, 1992, Garda Peter Kelly was able to remove a lethal weapon from a man who was out of control with rage in Newcastlewest, Limerick.

Garda Peter Kelly was awarded a Bronze Medal and Certificate of Bravery.

 

Tadgh Philpott

On 30th May, 1994, Tadhg Philpott entered the River Lee at Thomas David Bridge, Cork to rescue a man who was in difficulties in the water.

Tadgh Philpott was awarded a Silver Medal and Certificate of Bravery.
